Landscapes Rub R Mulch – Bonded Rubber Mulch (Poured-in-Place)

General Requirements

Rub R Mulch (Bonded Rubber Mulch) is a seamless rubber surface consisting of shredded recycled rubber tire, combined together with a highly sophisticated polyurethane binder. Designed and installed by Fortco Limited.

Quality Assurance

• Installer shall have at least five (5) years proven experience in the industry and be approved by product manufacturer;
• Submit 300mm x 300mm product samples in specific color and specified thickness;
• Rub R Mulch safety surface will only be installed when temperature is in the range of min. 10°C and max. 33°C during and 24hrs after installation. Installation during dry weather conditions is recommended.
• Rub R Mulch will require a minimum of 24-48 hours for curing period.

Installation – Base Preperation

• Rub R Mulch can be installed on compacted soil, compacted granular base, asphalt or concrete surfaces.
• When using a granular base, a minimum of 25mm to 100mm depth is required, compacted to a 95% proctor density. A water percolation rate of 60 liters/M2/hour. Should the rate be less, a French drain must be installed to provide adequate water flow.
• A geotextile between the base material and Rub R Mulch is recommended.
• Granular, soil, asphalt or concrete surfaces require a slope of no less than 2% to drain, acknowledging that Rub R Mulch is a water permeable surface.
• Base can be sloped up to 30 degrees within the installation area.
• Installation around all plants, trees and shrubs requires a 6″ spacing to allow for sufficient plant growth.
• Concrete, granular or wood borders are recommended. Rub R Mulch without a border can be finished by creating a 2″ trench around the perimeter.

 

Thickness

• Thickness of Rub R Mulch will be 1.5″ (40mm) and applied consistently throughout installation.
• Polyurethane binder shall be mixed throughout the entire thickness.
• Bevel is installed at the perimeter of the installation running from the thickness of the surface down to the base. The outside line of the bevel must be clear and follow the designed edge of the installation.
